Monthly Comp
09 June 2013
Overcast and cold for some - the men still turned up in shorts! Day didn't get much warmer, but a lot better when the sun came out. Some magnificent golf, and some crap golf!
14 starters.
Winner on the day
Nick Meiers - 41 points
NTP - Murray Virgin
Long Drive - George Cleland (about 270-280 metres drawn around a dogleg - WOW!)
Other balls to Burrett (33), Oreo (31), Rossco (30), Cap'n Kev (30), and the other 9 players didn't get a ball, and this may suggest the standard of the play on the day.
Birdies:
Nick on Par 5 seventh and par 4 sixteenth (glad he was my partner!)
Noel on par 4 seventeenth
Pring on par 4 sixth
George on par 4 fourth
Damien on par 5 tenth
Murray on par 3 ninth
And so amongst these birdies were 4 five pointers! Scary really, given the number of golf balls given out as prizes.
Next game Murray Bridge 14 July - 10.00am
New Handicaps (and a lot of them)
Nick now 22 (21.9)
Damien now 28 (27.7)
Murray now 22 (21.7)
Pring now 15 (14.6)
McCaw now 26 (25.5)
Cap'n now 25 (24.5)
Noel now 24 (23.5)
Old Handicaps George still 4.6 BWAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wednesday Comp
05 June 2013
Cool and overcast with a smidgin of a breeze from the Nor Nor West. Fantastic day for golf, and only got a light sprinkle towards the end, but it was very dark by the time we all left at about 4pm. Certainly down to shirtsleeves for the majority of the round. Apologies from the Cap'n, who claims to have caught a recent cold, and wants to be right for Sunday at Mount Compass.
6 starters - P Crathern, the Hanging Judge, Damien, Pring, with special guest appearances by Kenny Freestone (for the second week), and a cuntry member, Brian (Percy) Henson, who now plays off nine at the Royal and Ancient Port Lincoln Golf Course.
Late debate (very) wonders whether Percy is actually financial with the EET Club, and actually eligible to play in an EET Golf Club sanctioned competition. Maybe the boys can take it off him on Friday night at the Bonzo card game..........
Results
Front nine P Crathern 18 points
Back nine Pring 20 points
Overall P Crathern 35 points
Certain amount of abuse after the round re some scores apparently missing from last week's comp, so:
P Crathern - 35 points
HJ - 33 points
Pring - 31 points
Kenny - 29 points
Damien and Percy - 23 points
Obviously Percy couldn't cope with the quality (or was that the sledging?) of his two playing partners, or was it the concern for his dog left locked in the car for 3 and a half hours (you monster)
Next week, game is Tuesday, as Wednesday is long term forecast for heavy rain, (and Pring is unavailable for Wed, as in training to bring you the best election possible)
Next game Sunday 9 June Mt Compass at 9.30am.

Wednesday Competition
29 May 2013
Beautiful day for golf. Swapping between full sun and overcast, with a slight breeze out of the Nor Nor West. Kevvy didn't need the jacket.
6 starters - Crathern by two, the Hanging Judge, Damien, Pring and a guest appearance by Kenny Freestone.
Golf didn't live up to the hype, with some very mediocre scores.
Winners
Front nine Kenny (18)
Back nine Paul (18)
Overall Kenny (31)
Very few pars, and a couple of scores that will never see the light of day!
New Handicap - Paul Crathern now 29.8 (30)

Wednesday Comp 23 May 2013
Cool day but played in shirtsleeves. Light south westerly breeze, with all sunshine.
5 starters - Crathern x 2, Hanging Judge, Burrett and Pring.
Overall winner, Burrett with 35 points, a metre off green on the uphill Par 5 fifteenth with a drive and a 5 wood. Luckily he believed us when we told him new starters had to buy the beers! Also birdied that hole.
Others not too flash, Cap'n Kev 30, Paul and Pring 28 and the Judge, 26.
Thursday game in place of Wednesday due to inclement weather forecast for the Wednesday. 6 cars all trying to find the non-existent park at the same time, so a bit hectic. Luckily Paul found 3 spots where we could scrape thru and not use the marked car parks. Scratches not too bad!
New handicaps

Wednesday Competition - 15 May 2013
Only 4 players - Hanging Judge, the two Cratherns and Pring.
Course in reasonable nick, as they'd recently held the Lord Mayor's Trophy event there. Bit soggy underfoot, and not a lot of run.
Rained like hell while taking the receipt back to the parked cars, then shirtsleeves and some sweat until the 16th green, when the heavens opened up again. Only lasted 5 minutes then nothing to the end.
Boyle/K Crathern vs Pring/P Crathern
Front nine - Pring/Paul C 3 up after winning 4 of the first 5 holes
Back nine - all squared away
Overall - Pring/Paul C took the money!!!!
Stableford points, Pring front nine, Boyle back nine and Boyle overall. Scores nothing much to write home (or to Vienna) about.
Mount Barker Sunday 11.00 am.

Wednesday competition - 8 May 2013
Only four starters, Crathern x 2, Hanging Judge and Damien. Toss of balls revealed Cratherns vs The Rest of The World
Great day weather wise & when Paul & the
Judge both parred the first they were away!
No idea where they went but apart
from Don's acceptable 17 on the front, golf was rarely seen in its full glory.
The Cratherns were paired against Damien & Don with a win on the 9th
giving the big Cs the front & a win on the 18th gave the Cs the back.
Boy you can be unlucky!
Don several pars but ultimately only 29pts. KC 29, Paul 25
& Damien 23. I'd like to say all played well but stats don't lie.
New Handicap - Paul Crathern now 29 (actual 28.7)

Back Nine - Boyle (18) from Pring (17)
Overall - Boyle (34) from Pring (33) and Slug and Cap'n Kev (29).

Fees for all the above have
already been paid in advance by the EET Club, and the BBQ lunch has also been
paid for (subsidised by EET).
Try to be there early -
please! It’s a reasonable walk to some of the tees, and it would be good
to start on time!
A good weekend to use up
Victor friends (if you have any).
We have a reserve or 2, so
please advise asap if you cannot make it, as we will need to change
nominations, handicaps etc. with the organisers.
Format is Stableford, with both
individual honours and combined team scores winning prizes (we usually clean up
big time in the raffle prizes, although Rossco will be defending B Grade
champion).
First named I believe will be
captains on the day, and will need to pick up cards, ensure handicaps are
recorded correctly, and maybe even place lunch orders.
Can everyone also please respond
to me in the affirmative, and can you chase up your team members if they are
not on the distribution list for this email, and advise me.
RSVP by 30 January.
Cheers
Meister

WIRRINA
Sunday 13 January 2013
Cool morning with constant light rain for opening few holes. Dried up and we got on with it. Almost a blue sky trying to show through by the time we finished.
14 starters, 5 carts and 4 walkers, three of whom carried, and one pulled, and two of whom looked very cute in matching blue tie down waterproof hats (didn't help their scores, as you'll see by the names absent from the ball-winners on the day).
Dave Hammond won the day with 38 points, Steve White 35, Nick and the Meister on 32, Bronte and Phil Methofer 30, and no-one else scored a ball, except Rossco who got both NTP and Long Drive.
Slug came back to the field after the Handicapper ripped into him for having 43 points off 15 at McCracken on the Thursday prior, and couldn't continue the great form.
A couple of the carts probably covered close to 13 km's which is impressive, given the course is only 5697 metres long. It was a long walk, as Bronte eventually got the cart couple he was playing with to carry his clubs.
Thanks to Phil for the post game BBQ at his shack down at Carrickalinga, and the funniest thing ever concerning his ex-wife and a video.
Next game is 3rd February, and is the Group 4 competition held at Victor. We had 4 groups last year, and have nominated the same number again. We will need the confirmed nominations for this game, as we have to pre-pay for the round. More info to come out on this one.
I will also forward by email the Ambrose nomination form for Victor, but you will have to arrange your own groups, payments etc.

Wednesday competition
02/01/2013: North Adelaide
Teed off at 9.30 am to beat the forecast heat. The conditions were warm, but bearable, with a faint cooling breeze.
Six starters, including Damien (returning after surgery) and Bronte. Damien's sore shoulder affected his golf score and his ability to reach any pocket to shout drinks afterwards (good one Paul).
Front nine: Pring (21) from Milde & Boyle (19)
Back nine: Whicker (19) from Pring (17)
Overall: Pring (38) from Milde (34), Boyle (32) & Whicker (30)
No changes to handicaps:
Highlights: Bronte's remarkable putting all day.
Note: No game scheduled for next Wednesday due to the forecast extreme heat.
