29/01/14: North Adelaide
Very warm and sunny. A slight breeze for some of the round helped a bit.
Five starters, including Bronte's last game before returning to work.
Front nine: Pring (20) from Whicker (19) & Milde (16)
Back nine: Pring & Whicker (20) from Milde (17)
Overall: Pring (40) from Whicker (39), Milde (33) and Crathern (30)
Birdies:
Pring: on par 5 seventh and par 5 fifteenth. Also, four points on the difficult seventeenth. These two birdies, and my natural inclination not to whinge, preclude me from mentioning that I have now missed the money by one lousy shot, two weeks in a row.
Handicapper's Note:
GolfLink was offline last week for major changes to the handicapping system. I have entered our recent scores for North Adelaide (22/01 & 29/01), Wirrina and Fleurieu (for Dave O), but they do not seem to have been processed by GolfLink yet. Everything prior to the computer outage shows up on our individual GolfLink histories, but nothing since the outage. Our recent scores are shown in the system as "open", rather than "closed", even though I have definitely carried out the steps necessary to close the buggers. I am pursuing the matter.

Oreo's Eagles
Dave Oreo is too modest and introspective a person to raise the issue himself, but we should formally record his effort in scoring two eagles within a fortnight.
(i) 27th December: Barossa Valley (Nuriootpa)
Eagle on the par 5 eleventh hole (impressed the Judge, who is a hard marker)
(ii) 8th January: Fluerieu (Mt Compass)
Eagle on the par 5 second hole.
A 262 metre drive plus a 208 metre hybrid to within 3 feet of the flag. Remember that the second hole has water near the front of the green (to the right). Playing partner (Pring) allegedly took six shots to pass Dave's drive.

Wednesday Competition & Royal Adelaide Open Day
15/01/14: North Adelaide - Cancelled
The forecast 45 C discouraged a couple of the less hardy regulars from playing.
Next Wednesday will be back to the usual 11.30 am tee times.
13/01/14: Royal Adelaide Open Day
Ross, Bronte, Kevin & Greg represented the EET in 42 C conditions (not too bad at the 8.00am tee off, but fairly warmish by the 18th).
Bronte & Kev triumphed over Ross & Greg in a close tussle (assisted by Kev's very impressive short game).
RAGC Open Day Results:
Kevin won the B Grade competition with 39 points (43 players in B grade) - the $70 voucher should cover drinks after Wirrina on Sunday
Greg finished equal 6th in the A Grade competition with 35 points (62 players in A grade) - despite unbelievably bad luck on the greens !!!
Only one bloke (42 points) beat Kevin's score all day. Mr Lawson's luck unfairly triumphed over Kevin's skill.

Wednesday Competition
08/01/14: North Adelaide
Perfect day for golf - 25C and sunny, with a slight breeze. Six starters, with very ordinary scores apart from Damien - infamous for his "I get two strokes on that hole as well" comment.
Clearly, several of us are managing handicaps in preparation for the Victor rounds in Feb & March.
Front nine: Damien (18) from Don (17)
Back nine: Damien (20) from Greg (16)
Overall: You can work it out. Daylight second, Don third on 32 points
No highlights, but finally Damien's handicap reduces (by one).
Forgot to mention last week that Kerri Oreo won the Wednesday EET women's competition.
