Wednesday Competition

19/03/14:   North Adelaide

Another perfect day - sunny, calm and 25C.  Course in excellent condition.
Only 3 starters, with Kev unavailable and Peter still O/S.
Once again, the scores were very disappointing, although there were patches of decent stuff.

Front nine:    Damien - scores too embarrassing to publish
Back nine:    Greg (19)
Overall:         Greg (31)
Greg managed to birdie the par 4 ninth.

Sunday Competition

16/03/14:  Patawalonga

Conditions at the Pat were cool for the 14 starters. Wind threatened to have an impact on the scores but it wasn't evident in the wash up. Course was in good nick & greens good pace but pitch repairers should be sighted before players are allowed to hit off.  Some greens looked like a hailstorm had passed through.

Bronte said Ross Higgins has played with us on 2 previous occasions and Bronte is a man to be believed.  I think Ross can be compared to a Bay Sheffield betting bolter. He'd gone unnoticed with returns of 26 & 27 points previously but jumped the field with a 4 point riddled 46 over the 18.  The other unlucky Crathern (P) was brave but ultimately left pondering with 43 big ones. Kenny Freestone did a 'Damien'& nursed his way home with a 'couldabeen' 38 along with Dave Hammond. On 37 was Murray Virgin followed by Eric Kelly 35, Nick 34, Noel 34, Bonzo 33, Cap'n Kev 32, Dave O 31 and Damien & Ross 30.
Nearest the pin was Ross T & long Drive was Ross H. An expensive ball day for the club but a good day for the lads.  Good to see Dave & Murray back and look forward to Ross's appointment with the handicapper.  Eric would be another prospective new member but apparently will be travelling most of the year.  Retirement - it's a challenge!

Next game Mt Compass (Fleurieu) 13 April 10am.

Wednesday Competition

12/03/14:  North Adelaide

Perfect conditions once again - warm and calm.  Fairways perfect, but the rough was fairly long.

Only four starters:  K Crathern/Mensforth vs Boyle/Whicker.

Unfortunately, my dog ate the scorecard and Boyle & Whicker have absolutely no recollection of the score.  The other team may have won (easily) and Kevin may have played quite well with 33 points, but who knows ?

I do remember that someone just managed to reach the ladies tee on the ninth with his second shot (finished about 5 mm in front of the red tees).   It's rare to get two jugs of beer from one hole.

Wednesday Competition

05/03/14:  North Adelaide

Perfect conditions for golf - 24C and sunny, with only a slight breeze.
Only 4 starters, with Captn Kev still O/S.

Quite surprisingly, Boyle and Pring proved too good for Mensforth and Whicker  (although the good guys won the back nine).

Front nine:   Boyle (19), daylight second
Back nine:   Mensforth (19) from Boyle (18)
Overall:        Boyle (37).   The other three focussed on the 'team' aspects.
