23/04/14: North Adelaide
Another perfect Autumn day - 20C and sunny, with virtually no breeze.
5 starters, including the reigning EET/Victor champion, but pretty ordinary golf for much of the day. The old fox continued his recent form resurgence and took all the money without affecting his handicap.
Damien 16 points out, 19 points back, for 35 overall.
Kevin and Bronte were not disgraced. Others were.
A hypothetical question:
Could someone be reasonably accused of blatant handicap management if, on the 18th tee, they:
(i) had all the money won for the day
(ii) already had 19 points on the back nine
(iii) would have reduced their handicap by scoring 6 or less on the final hole
(iv) duffed their drive and scrubbed the hole before reaching the 18th fairway.
Next Week: - Wed 30th April
Note the early tee time of 10.30 am

30: Paul Crathern

Another perfect Autumn day - low 20s & calm with course in very good condition.

Back nine: Don & Greg (17), Damien (16)
Overall: Greg (40), Don (33), Kevin (31)
Highlights:
Greg: Birdied holes 4, 5 and 6 (par 4 followed by two par 3s). Even par after 9.
Damien: Won the last two holes, under pressure.

Sunday Competition
13/04/14: Fleurieu (Mt Compass)
Sixteen starters on not a bad day - a slight breeze and fairly cool, but the possible showers held off.
Stableford Comp: Prizes to:
43 points: Bronte Milde - outstanding effort by the EET & Victor Champion
37: Rod Higgins, Ross Corsby
33: Noel Wellman, Phil Methofor
32: Greg Whicker, Kevin Crathern, Ross Townsend, Dave Oreo
31: Damien Mensforth
30: Dave Hammond
EET Singles Championship - Match Play
First Round: Noel Wellman defeated Ross Townsend (3 & 2). The extra stroke that Ross had to give Noel on 13 holes had absolutely no effect on the outcome of the match.
Highlights:
Bronte Milde: Birdie on par 4 fourth. Four pars in 5 holes, mid-round.
Dave Oreo: Birdie on par 3 ninth hole
Craig Burrett: Birdie on par 4 third hole (a 'gimme' birdie on a very difficult hole)
Eric Kelly: Birdie on par 3 fourteenth ( 2 for 5, if you don't mind)
Noel Wellman: Twenty points on the front nine in a match play round

Wednesday Competition Addendum
09/04/14: North Adelaide
Forgot to mention the day's highlight on the par 5 fifteenth.
After a couple of good shots, Damien is on the fairway, on the upslope of Montiefiore Hill, about 120 metres from the green, three wood in hand.
The swing was perfect for his controlled fade, excellent tempo, head still, intense focus on the back of the ball. Seconds later, the back of the ball still hadn't moved, but the clubhead had gone 23 metres straight at the flag - I'm not sure whether to count the extra foot where it hit the ground behind the ball.

Wednesday Competition
09/04/14: North Adelaide
The forecast rain did not eventuate, leaving mild, cloudy and dead calm conditions. The course was in excellent condition, but the damp fairways had very little run.
Five starters, with Pring back (but clearly short of a gallop).
Front nine: Greg (18) from Kevin, Damien and Don (16)
Back nine: Greg (20) from Kevin (16)
Overall: Greg (38) from Kevin (32), Don & Damien (31)

Wednesday Competition
26/03/14: North Adelaide
Only three starters on another perfect autumn day. Pring O/S, Don AWOL.
Very ordinary performances all round.
Front nine: Kev and Greg (15)
Back nine: Greg (17)
Greg birdied the par 5 second hole.
02/04/14: North Adelaide
Four starters on another perfect Autumn day - mid 20s, sunny and calm.
Damien and Kevin again proved far too good for Don and Greg.
Damien (33) and Kevin (30) weren't totally embarrassed. The others were.
The highlights were:
Damien: Back in form after his injury excuses: won the crucial ninth hole (for the front nine) and the fifteenth (for the match). Resembled a real golfer.
Kevin: Drove like Adam Scott for quite a number of holes - sort of !!
